Studio Predeliction, Kohima engaged with photographers commissioned by TDF to create a photo essay on the lives of the artisans of the craft cluster in Choklangan and also undertake the visual documentation of the traditional process of nettle yarn making, from the forests to the finished product.

Ajam Emba is a slow food eatery and training center serving Adivasi (indigenous) food, promoting indigenous entrepreneurs and organic farmers in Ranchi. Jharkhand. To celebrate its third anniversary and to support an indigenous enterprise, TDF graphic designer and brand consultant, Anupam Purty did a visual rebranding of the restaurant along with the design of the basic communication collateral.

Due to the long Pandemic a lot of tribal artists were found to be facing great difficulty in earning a living. FroggMag, Delhi NCR and TDF took the initiative to help these artists by organizing an Online Sale of Paintings by Gond Artists. 40 of the 64 paintings on display were sold during this onlin sale.

There is a growing gap between the rural and the urban society and people of the urban society are unaware of the vast variety of tribal products. TDF organized a Tribal Market Fair on 3rd January 2022 in Takra, Khunti, to promote tribal products to both the rural and urban communities. The empanelment of the participating designers and enterprises with TRIFED was facilitated by TDF.

To celebrate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples in 2021, TDF organised an online quiz contest to highlight the cultural diversity and vibrancy of the tribal communities in India. The winner, Abhijit Munda, from Ranchi won the first prize and earned himself two tickets for a three night paid trip to Goa, sponsored by India Tourism Mumbai.

There are not many photographic representations or visual resources on tribals or tribal culture in India readily available. TDF organized the Tribal Heritage of India Photography Contest, inviting photographers working with the tribal communities to showcase their work and the vast diversity of tribal culture. A select panel of leading photographers from around the world, working with indigenous communities, was set up to evaluate the entries.
