Learnings from the Forests
About Prakash Bhoir
Prakash Bhoir is a passionate Adivasi activist from Aarey Forest in Mumbai whose voice has become central to the fight against deforestation and displacement in the name of development. A member of the Warli community, Bhoir has long resisted state-led projects that threaten both the forest and its indigenous inhabitants. His activism blends deep ecological knowledge, cultural preservation, and fierce resistance to forced relocation. Whether through nurturing saplings in his self-made nursery, hosting researchers and students in his mud home surrounded by Warli art or raising questions about the meaning of ‘vikas’ (development), Bhoir stands as a living testament to indigenous resilience and environmental stewardship.
