Reviving Munda Cultural Practices by Design

Gunjal currently works as Manager, Culture at Piramal Foundation. Prior to this he has been an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Endangered Languages, at Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi, where he was engaged in documenting Asur, Birjia, Birhor, Turi, Korwa languages of Jharkhand. He has been a Guest Faculty at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Ranchi Regional Centre, teaching topics related to Tribes and Tribal Art to the students of Post Graduate Diploma in Tribal Arts. Gunjal did his Post Graduation in Folkloristics from Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi. He is a Co-founder of Rumbul.

Rumbul is an organisation based in Ranchi, Jharkhand dedicated to the conservation of tribal culture and heritage. The team strives to carry forward the philosophy and legacy of Dr. Ramdayal Munda in the field of tribal music, performing arts, language, literature and livelihood. Since its formation in 2011, it has been active in performing tribal music and dance in various parts of India. It also conducts many classes on the same to the young generation tribals to make them aware, learn and be proud of their rich cultural heritage. The team also brings out books and magazines on tribal issues and languages.
