Divya Ekka

Discovering forgotten things through photography

Divya Ekka is a Freelance Photographer and Graphic Designer. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from Institute of Technical Education and Research and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Photography Design from National Institute of Design, Gandhinagar.

Hobby of photography had led Divya to take up Photography Design. Through the education in design, she learned to unlearn a lot of things. Her memorable assignment includes a project about Dead Letters, the letters which are not received by the receivers and are discarded or burnt by the post office. The memory and information in these letters are lost. One photograph from this project shows a sack full of dead letters behind a beautiful grill depicting caged memories.

Professionally she is currently working as a Fashion Photographer. Her last project was about Brides of India depicting women in various roles which are unconventional . She wishes to do a documentation project on the evolution of the Oraon tribe. Deeply affected by the stigmatised portrayal of tribal women, Divya wishes to change this perception through her photographs.
