About Epil Rani Kongari

Epil Rani Kongari is from Bindukuri, Assam. She did her degree of Bachelor in Commerce from Darrang College, Tezpur. She belongs to the Munda tribe of the Adivasi community. She loves creativity and tries to bring out her creative side through filmmaking, photography and, at times, drawings. She is open to experimentation and always thrives on learning new things. 

She is a Green Hub Alumni. During her fellowship, she did her internship with an organisation ‘Aaranyak’ a leading wildlife NGO based in Guwahati, Assam. It is a Scientific, Industrial Research and frontline environmental organization of India, that works all over the eastern Himalayan region on nature conservation, natural resources management, climate change, disaster management and livelihood enhancement of marginalized communities through research, education and advocacy. During her internship, she had the opportunity to create a documentary film on the Kohora River, which was officially selected by All Livings Things Environmental Film Festival (ALTEFF) for screening.

Post fellowship, for two consecutive years she got acknowledged as Youth Ambassador for the Global Sustainability Film Awards 2022 and 2023 organised by TVE, London. She was a training assistant at Green Hub in the year 2022 and 2023 and worked on the North-East India Bio-cultural Conservation Initiative (NEBI) and Other effective area-based conservation measures (OECM) project under United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Currently, she is actively engaged with her community in addressing human-animal conflict within the tea garden while also endeavouring to preserve culture through visual mediums.
